MMA all for move to ban fast food adverts

Summary

The article is about Ministry of Health’s proposal to ban advertisement for fast food has been endorsed by Malaysian Medical Association (MMA). One factor is that the doubtful of the nutritional value of the food itself which lead our society nowadays suffer from many diseases. Instead of banning their advertisements, Dr Teoh Siang Chin; the president of Ministry of Health said the companies should also bear a “social sin tax” while the Muslim Consumers Association of Malaysia’s project director; Noor Nirwandy Mat Noordin also suggested to put danger labels like on cigarettes boxes to their products.

Reflection

Because of the completely bad effect of fast food to ones health, I can see this plan is completely supposed to be done for the past years. One of the reasons is of course to prevent our society from suffering diabetes, obesity, hypertension and etc. People should have realized even more about their health if this proposal being implemented in this country otherwise all range of age will keep buying that food from the tantalizing advertisement.

Those unhealthy food sold by fast food companies may have an effect on the effectiveness of ones work, study and their daily life. Most of ability people will decrease for that reason. This is because healthy is an important thing that should be takes care of everyone to live a good life.

That’s why Datuk Dr Teoh Siang Chin; the president of Ministry of Health said that proper dietary habits should be promoted and practiced either at home, school or even at work. Actually, all the restaurants in Malaysia should also being aware to avoid unhealthy food to be sold in their restaurant. Food pyramid supposed to be a guide for everyone in their daily diet.

When Dr Teoh said about the “social sin tax”, it shows that he really meant the harm caused by the fast food companies to customer’s health and it also shows that he is really concerned about Malaysian’s life.

In addition to that, to make it seems more dangerous to people, The Muslim Consumers Association of Malaysia project director; Noor Nirwandy Mat Noordin suggest putting danger label on the fast food products. This exaggerated action might attract people’s awareness for not buying any fast food product and I’m sure eventually these actions will work one day.

Therefore, banning the fast food advertisement and all the suggestions by Health Ministry and Muslim Consumers Association of Malaysia are the good ways to improve and promote a healthy life to all Malaysian.
